More than 300 Ford customers have now placed orders for the highly anticipated Mustang Fastback and Convertible, which are available in the muscle car’s legendary V8 performance version and the first-ever EcoBoost engine that will provide the power of a bigger engine in a smaller, more fuel efficient package.
The New Zealand order book looks similar to Ford Mustang order books around the world with auto enthusiasts very excited to be the first behind the wheel. The overwhelming choice among the first orders is the Mustang GT Fastback with the six-speed automatic GT 5.0-litre V8. In New Zealand, it makes up approximately 60 per cent of the first orders.
“It’s a fantastic time to be a Ford fan in New Zealand,” said Corey Holter, Managing Director, Ford New Zealand. “We are so excited to be bringing to New Zealand what is a motoring icon and the very heart and soul of the Ford Motor Company. To have a response like the one we’ve had, from the very day we announced the Mustang was coming to the unprecedented amount of orders, just makes it all the more exciting.”
“Just like in America, we are seeing great early demand for the V8 GT models. But, we anticipate the EcoBoost model will be a bigger seller longer term, more so than most performance cars, as people see its great combination of performance and fuel economy,” Holter added.
The New Ford Mustang has a recommended RRP starting at $56,990 for the six-speed automatic transmission Fastback, which features a high performance 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine. The range topper is the six-speed automatic GT 5.0-litre V8 Convertible, which has an RRP of $76,990.
Colour Choices in NZ – Race Red in the lead!
Around the world and here in New Zealand, ‘Race Red’ is the most popular Mustang colour choice. From there, New Zealand’s initial orders take a unique direction with ‘Magnetic’ following very closely and then in order of preference are ‘Ruby Red’, ‘Deep Impact Blue’, ‘Oxford White’ and ‘Shadow Black’.
Unmistakably Mustang!
Visually, the all-new Mustang is unmistakable in its clean-sheet design. It has kept its classic shape, with a long sculpted hood and short rear deck, but with contemporary changes.
Several key design features define the new Ford Mustang, including:
Ford is the one to watch in 2015
The arrival of the Mustang in late 2015 will round out a huge year for Ford New Zealand. The company is introducing a record number of smart new vehicles - the largest line up refresh in Ford New Zealand’s history.
Extending the success of the Ford Ranger across the entirety of the Ford line up, Ford New Zealand has already introduced the New Ford Falcon XR8 and XR6, the New Ford Territory, All New Ford Mondeo, a refreshed Ford Kuga, the New Focus ST and the Focus Wagon.
These are soon to be followed by the rest of the New Focus range, the All New Ford Everest - a brand new, seven-seat 4WD SUV, and the New Ranger.
And then of course, toward the end of the year the All New Mustang arrives!
