  • September sales reach new heights for the Ford Ranger – third record breaking month in a row
  • Popular and Safe – New Ford Ranger gets 5 Star Safety, scoring one of the highest safety scores of any ute
  • The overall new car favourite in New Zealand; Ford Ranger is what Kiwis are driving

The New Ford Ranger has received the nod of approval from Kiwis around the country – as well as from the safety ratings organisation ANCAP! In its second month of availability, the New Ford Ranger has propelled the vehicle to yet another monthly record – the third in a row. With 744 sales in September, the Ford Ranger has increased its position as the most popular ute as well as the most popular overall new car in the country.

Also in September, the New Ford Ranger achieved one of the highest ANCAP safety scores for a ute yet, scoring 36.72 points out of a maximum 37 overall and securing the maximum five-star result for all variants – both 2WD and 4WD. The complete test scores are available at the ANCAP site here.

Corey Holter, Managing Director, Ford New Zealand, said the New Ford Ranger’s success comes down to an overall improved package that continues to exceed customer expectations and provide superior value.

“In addition to the assurance of having the top safety rating, customers are finding that Ford has taken an already winning ute and made it even better with the New Ford Ranger,” said Holter. “It’s far more than just a face lift. The engineers and designers have looked at every aspect of the vehicle and made significant improvements and enhancements. Drivers will notice it within two minutes of a test drive.”

And the competition?

“For us it’s always been about the customer and letting them decide,” added Holter. “But when launched in late 2011, the Ford Ranger changed how New Zealanders looked at utes. In doing so, the Ford Ranger effectively put the competition on notice. There have been a lot of new and improved entrants with some still to come. But just as others are playing catch up and thinking they are in range, the New Ford Ranger is shifting the posts again.”

The Ford Ranger is the Kiwi #1

The Ford Ranger continues its overall lead in new car sales, ahead of Hilux and the Corolla, in New Zealand but Holter explains the most important thing to Ford New Zealand is that the Ford Ranger is the Kiwi favourite.

“The Ford Ranger is what Kiwis are driving,” said Holter. “There is a leading sales number and many people focus on that but for us, it’s the customers that matter. The Ford Ranger is not propped up by sales to rental companies and it won’t be. The Ford Ranger lead comes from being the best performing ute and the best value. That’s what makes it the Kiwi favourite.”
