Two of Kiwis' Favourite Things

AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND, 13 June 2017 – Combining two of Kiwis’ favourite things, Rangers and Weber BBQs, has helped propel New Zealand’s number one new vehicle to yet another monthly sales record. More than 880 Ford Rangers found new homes across New Zealand in the month of May.

“We are in the Fieldays sales period and like always the competition is extremely fierce,” said Jeremy Nash, Marketing Manager for light commercials and SUVs, Ford New Zealand. “We wanted to put together deals that Kiwis would value above the rest. To get there we sharpened our pencils, threw in the very tasty Weber grill for Ranger and Transit, and according to May numbers it has been spot on.”

“Customers have responded to not only Ranger and Transit Fieldays specials but also the Focus and new Escape. There is very good value across the Ford range,” Nash added.

Focus in Focus

The Ford Focus shot up to number two in its segment in May. Alex Brown, Ford New Zealand Marketing Manager for cars, attributes the success to not only a very good Ford Fieldays special on the Focus Sport but getting more people behind the wheel.

“The Ford Focus has the best chassis in the segment, making it a car that is a pleasure to drive,” said Brown. “Whether you’re in the exhilarating Focus RS or even just commuting in a Focus Trend, the Focus is noticeably a better drive than its rivals; once people get in the driver’s seat, they’re sold.”

The Focus RS continues to drive excitement and attract attention for the entire Focus range. With limited numbers left, Ford NZ is expecting it to sell out its remaining RS units for 2017 well before year end. The Focus RS is the latest in a line of iconic cars developed by Ford and features Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring. Powering the new RS is a specially tuned EcoBoost 2.3L engine with next level turbocharger, cooling and exhaust outputs 257kW of power.

Transit Autos Arrive!

The first of the Ford Transits with automatic transmissions arrived in May and have already gone to waiting customers. The new Transits feature a highly-anticipated automatic transmission and are powered by Ford’s new EcoBlue advanced diesel engine that offers optimised fuel efficiency and reduced CO2 and NOX emissions.

The four-cylinder 2.0-litre Ford EcoBlue is now standard in the new Transit and Transit Custom vehicles.

Drivability of the EcoBlue 2.0 litre engine is enhanced with 20 per cent more torque at 1,250 rpm compared with the outgoing equivalent power 2.2-litre TDCi diesel engine, helping commercial vehicle drivers effortlessly tackle challenging everyday driving scenarios such as creeping in traffic, or overtaking slower-moving vehicles. The new engine also delivers passenger car refinement to the commercial segment, reducing radiated noise by 4 decibels at idle.

Ford at Fieldays!

Ford New Zealand returns to Fieldays this week – June 14 to 17 at stand J44. The entire Ford range will be on display along with a lifestyle section with a variety of Fords sporting all the way Kiwis love to play. Also new this year - Ford will be selling on site at Fieldays.

Kirstin Martin, Events Manager at Ford New Zealand said, “The Ford site will remain as always a no-pressure, friendly place to check out the latest Ford vehicles and deals but for those super keen to purchase on the day, the option will be there this year. ”
