At certain points during the update installation, the screen may go dark for several minutes at times as the system reboots. You will also hear audible “Installation Complete” messages. They refer to specific phases of the installation, not the overall upgrade process. When last phase is complete, SYNC® will reboot and then show a normal working screen display instead of installation screen display.
Please Note:
- Take note of the saved Navigation points which are stored in your Satellite navigation system. You will need to re-enter them after the installation. Your devices need to be set-up again once the upgrade is complete.
- Please ensure that your car is in a well-ventilated area. Your vehicle will need to be turned on, with the engine running, for about 20-30 minutes to complete the upgrade.
- Plug in the USB drive with the update, while the car needs to be turned on with engine running.
- Press “Menu” and Select “SYNC-Settings” and Press “OK”.
- Select “Install on SYNC” and Press “OK”
- “Begin SYNC installation?” displays. Press softkey1 “Yes” to confirm. SYNC® will display “Installing SYNC file” during the process. After about 1min, SYNC® will display “SYNC is rebooting…”.
- About 30s, SYNC® prompts “your download is in progress, and your system may reboot several times during the update. Please wait about 20min until you hear SYNC system update was completed, you may then use SYNC”. About 10s, the popup “SYNC is rebooting…”is disappeared. There is no popup in the screen. Do not remove your USB drive or turn off your vehicle or SYNC® system while this update is in progress
- In about 20 minutes, SYNC® prompts “SYNC system update was completed. The system is now on reboot. Please wait a few moments before trying to use the system”. About 20s, SYNC® will display “Installation Complete” The system is then initializing, which may take several minutes.
- SYNC® prompts. Press “MENU” to exit installation mode. It is now safe to remove your USB drive and drive the vehicle or turn it off. To complete the process, take the USB drive to your computer to report the successful installation.
