How to hear text messages with voice commands

With a simple voice command, SYNC^® 3 enables you to listen to text messages while your phone is securely put away. You may also be able to reply with one of 15 preset messages with voice commands.

5 STEPS

Before you start

There are a few things you should do before starting step 1:

^. Check your phone’s compatibility with SYNC^® 3.

^. Pair your phone with SYNC^® 3. 

^. If you have an iPhone^{sync-3-text-message}, please see Receiving iPhone^{sync-3-text-message} text messages with SYNC^® 3

*This option is not available with iPhones.

Note: Downloading and sending text messages using Bluetooth^® are phone-dependent features.

 Certain features in text messaging are speed-dependent and not available when your vehicle is traveling at speeds more than 3 mph (5 km/h).

Use Siri^{sync-3-text-message} Eyes-Free and your iPhone^{sync-3-text-message} to personalize text messages

With Siri^{sync-3-text-message} Eyes-Free, you can use your iPhone^{sync-3-text-message} to send personalized replies to text messages. To use this feature, activate and tell Siri^{sync-3-text-message} whom you want to text and what you want to say in your message. Siri^{sync-3-text-message} will read your text back to you to confirm it and then send it when it’s ready. Siri^{sync-3-text-message} Eyes-Free is the only option for replying to text messages with voice and personalized messages with an iPhone^{sync-3-text-message}.
