What charging options are there for my Ford Electric Vehicle (EV)?

Charging Solutions and Plug-Types

At Home Charging

The following at home charging options are available:

  • Convenience Cord (subject to the type of EV)
    • Standard charging solution for Ford EVs.
    • Can be plugged into a wall outlet.
  • Private Charge Station
    • Charge Stations can be purchased and installed at your home.
    • Charge Stations are faster than the Convenience Cord.

Public Charging

The following details are important regarding public charging.

  • Public Charge Stations are third-party vendors.
  • Ford is not affiliated with third-party Charge Stations.
  • Station design, availability and plug-in type may vary.
  • Some stations allow the use of a personal cord instead of using the built-in option.
  • Most will require you to sign up and subscribe to your network of services before allowing you to use the Charge Station.

Common Plug-Types

There are different plug-types (dependent on the BEV/ PHEV vehicle model), which are:

  • Type-2 (Mennekes)
    • Ford standard plug type
    • Charges at rates of 22-50kiloWatts (kW)
  • DC-CCS - Type 2 (Combined Charging System)
    • Combination of the Type 2 (Mennekes) with high-speed charging pins
    • Also known as a CCS - Type 2
    • Charges at rates of 50-350kW
