What are the FordPass app, vehicle's modem and activated vehicle?

FordPass is an app that you can download on your smartphone.

Your vehicle may have an embedded modem containing a SIM card and is known as a “Connected Vehicle”. Like a smartphone it is connected to the internet and is both able to send and receive certain data.

To make use of the vehicle's modem, you need to download the FordPass app and create an account. Link the two together to create an “activated vehicle”.
