Where can I find troubleshooting information for Vehicle Health Alerts (VHA), Field Service Actions (FSA), Recalls and other related issues?

Use the details below for related issues for Vehicle Health Alerts.

Note: Some FSAs do not clear until a date/mileage interval is reached. FSAs that have a mileage interval/date requirement have this information stated in the FSA.

InconsistentVHA

  • Once a vehicle is started, its instrument cluster is queried every 60 seconds for a change in the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) or Warning Indicator Lamp (WIL).
  • VHA is triggered when MIL/WIL status in the vehicle's instrument cluster changes. When MIL/WIL is triggered, its information and Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is sent to the Ford Cloud, and produces a VHA on FordPass®.
  • When MIL/WIL is consistently triggered, this is an indication of a serious issue that requires action to be taken.
  • Occasional flashes of MIL/WIL indicates temporary malfunctions. Because they are temporary, you will experience a mismatch with your VHA in FordPass and vehicle MIL/WIL.
  • Be aware of possible forthcoming issues which can later become more serious.

Note: If you are uncertain on next steps, please contact your Ford Dealer for assistance.

Timelines for a Completed FSA or Recall to Clear fromFordPass

  • Once service has been provided by your Ford Dealer, the Dealer needs to file a report and claim for the FSA/Recall through their internal systems.
  • Once closed, the FSA/Recall will no longer display in FordPass.
  • It may take time for FordPass to reflect properly due to differing processes by Dealers.
    • Some Dealers file claims weekly.
    • Others may only file monthly.

Note: If the actions above were taken, and your alert still appears in FordPass, contact a Guide for additional assistance.

Accident TriggeringVHA

During an accident, a vehicle will trigger multiple Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), and generate VHAs, but they will only be sent to FordPass the next time the vehicle is turned on. For most vehicles this is when the vehicle is put in neutral and towed.

At this time, you can expect multiple VHAs to generate on FordPass.
