What is a compliance plate?

A compliance plate is attached to a vehicle by a manufacturer or an importer that states that the vehicle complies with the Motor Vehicle Standards Act 1989 (MVSA).

The compliance plate includes the vehicle identification number, the compliance date shown in month and year, and the manufacturer.
