How does the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System work?

The Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is a useful system designed to let you know if one of your tyres is low on pressure. Each wheel is fitted with a sensor that reports the tyre pressure to the computer of the car. If one or more of your tyres has low pressure, the system will display an indicator light on the dashboard. You will then need to check the pressure of each tyre.

If you have your spare wheel fitted or there is an issue with any of the sensors, the indicator light will flash on start-up, before remaining illuminated whilst the vehicle is on.

For more information, please view the video below, refer to your Owner's Manual or get in contact with your local Ford Dealer.

Warning: The TPMS is not a substitute for manually checking tyre pressures. You should periodically check tyre pressures using a pressure gauge. Failure to correctly maintain tyre pressures could increase the risk of tyre failure, loss of control, vehicle rollover and personal injury.
